Rundown: Sports Trivia

We believe privacy should be as clear as a final score.

1.Overview

Rundown: Sports Trivia ("Rundown," "we," "our," or "us") is a mobile sports trivia game published by Slaminsoftware. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you play Rundown, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data.

By downloading or using Rundown you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Plain-English summary You can play entirely as a guest — no account required. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we collect your display name to show on leaderboards. We use Google AdMob to serve ads and Firebase to run the game. On iOS, we will ask for your permission before allowing AdMob to access your advertising identifier for tracking purposes. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app.

2.Information We Collect

2.1 — Account Information

Rundown offers three ways to play:

Sign-In Method Data Collected Notes
Guest (anonymous) None — a random Firebase UID is assigned automatically No personal information is collected. Stats are local to the device session.
Sign In with Google Display name, Firebase UID Your display name is shown on leaderboards. We do not store your Google email address.
Sign In with Apple Display name (first sign-in only), Firebase UID Apple provides your name only on the very first authentication. Your email is not stored by us.

2.2 — Game Data

When you complete a game as a signed-in user, we store the following in our Firebase Firestore database:

Data Field Purpose
Sport & game mode Categorises your session on the correct leaderboard
Score, correct answers, total questions Displays your result and updates your personal statistics
Answer streak Calculates bonus points and your all-time best streak
Timestamp Sorts recent games and daily-challenge history
Seen question IDs (per sport) Prevents you from seeing the same question twice; reset automatically once ~80% of the pool is exhausted

Guest players' game results are not persisted to the server. Stats and leaderboard entries are only saved for signed-in accounts.

2.3 — Device & Usage Information

Through Google AdMob and Firebase, the following data may be collected from your device: device type, operating system version, advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS / GAID on Android), IP address, and crash logs. This data is processed by our third-party partners as described in Section 4 and is not stored directly by us in our own databases.

3.How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Purpose Legal Basis (where applicable)
Run the game and save your scores Contractual necessity (providing the service)
Display your name and score on leaderboards Contractual necessity / legitimate interest
Prevent you from receiving duplicate questions Legitimate interest (improving user experience)
Show personalised or contextual advertisements Consent (collected by Google AdMob per your device settings)
Diagnose crashes and improve performance Legitimate interest (maintaining app quality)
Comply with legal obligations Legal obligation

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not use your data for purposes unrelated to operating Rundown. However, we do share your device's advertising identifier with Google AdMob for the purpose of serving and measuring advertisements. This sharing is subject to your App Tracking Transparency permission choice on iOS.

4.Third-Party Services

Rundown relies on the following third-party services. Each service operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

Google Firebase (Authentication & Firestore)

Handles user authentication (including anonymous sessions) and stores game data, user statistics, and leaderboard entries in a cloud database. Firebase is operated by Google LLC.

Google Sign-In

Provides OAuth-based sign-in using your Google account. We receive only your display name and a cryptographic identity token; we never see your Google password.

Sign In with Apple

Provides OAuth-based sign-in on iOS using your Apple ID. Apple can relay your email through a private address if you choose; we do not store it. Sign In with Apple is operated by Apple Inc.

Google AdMob

Serves in-app advertisements. AdMob may use your device advertising identifier (IDFA/GAID) to track your activity across apps and websites owned by other companies for the purpose of delivering targeted advertisements and measuring ad performance. This constitutes tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. On iOS, Rundown will request your permission via a system prompt before AdMob accesses your advertising identifier. You can change this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. See Section 5 for further details on your ad-related choices.

5.Advertising

Rundown is free to download and is supported by advertising provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and past browsing or app activity to track you across other companies' apps and websites for the purpose of showing you relevant ads and measuring ad performance. If you have limited ad tracking on your device, AdMob will instead show non-personalised contextual ads.

On iOS, Rundown will display a system permission prompt — required by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework — before AdMob accesses your advertising identifier. If you deny permission, your identifier will not be used for tracking and you will receive non-personalised ads. You can change this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Rundown.

How to manage your ad preferences You can limit ad personalisation at any time through your device settings:

iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking — disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track." You can also reset your Advertising Identifier from the same menu.

Android: Settings → Google → Ads — enable "Opt out of Ads Personalization" or reset your Advertising ID.

Opting out of personalised ads does not remove ads from Rundown; it means the ads you see will be less tailored to your interests.

6.Data Retention & Deletion

6.1 — How long we keep your data

We retain your game data (game sessions, statistics, leaderboard entries) for as long as your account is active. If you have not signed in for an extended period or if you delete your account, your data is removed as described below.

6.2 — Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account — and all associated data — directly inside Rundown. When you initiate account deletion:

(1) All of your game session records are deleted from Firestore. (2) Your user statistics document is deleted. (3) All of your leaderboard entries are deleted. (4) Your Firebase Authentication record is permanently removed.

This process is irreversible. After deletion is complete, you will be signed in as a new anonymous guest and your previous scores will no longer be recoverable.

6.3 — Guest sessions

If you play as a guest, no personal data is stored on our servers. Uninstalling the app ends the anonymous session entirely.

7.Children's Privacy

Rundown is rated Everyone (4+) on the Apple App Store and PEGI 3 on Google Play. The app contains advertisements, which is disclosed in both store listings.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) beyond what is necessary to operate the game. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information without your consent, please contact us (see Section 11) and we will promptly delete the information.

Because the app shows ads, parents should be aware that Google AdMob may collect the device advertising identifier on devices used by children. We encourage the use of parental controls and device-level ad-tracking restrictions on devices shared with or owned by minors.

8.Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Right How to exercise it
Access Contact us to request a summary of the data we hold for your account
Correction Your display name can be updated through your Google or Apple account settings
Deletion Use the in-app account deletion feature, or contact us directly
Portability Contact us to request an export of your game data
Opt-out of ad personalisation Use your device's advertising settings (see Section 5)
Withdraw consent Delete your account and uninstall the app at any time

Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), the European Economic Area (GDPR), and other jurisdictions with applicable privacy laws may have additional rights. Contact us at the address in Section 11 to make any privacy request.

9.Security

We rely on Google Firebase's infrastructure, which uses industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to Firestore data is governed by security rules that ensure users can only read and write their own records.

We authenticate all users — including guests — through Firebase Authentication before allowing any database access. OAuth sign-ins (Google and Apple) use industry-standard cryptographic nonce verification to prevent token replay attacks.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

10.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide a more prominent notice (such as an in-app notification or an updated store listing description).

Continued use of Rundown after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
